One day he came out and all he said all day long was "thul-thul, nan-nan," repeating these words to himself like a mantra. Days went by like this and somebody finally said: "Maharajji, what are you saying?" And it turned out to be an old Bihari dialect and all it meant was "too big, too big, too little, too little". When he was finally asked why he was saying this, he finally said: "Oh, all you people, you live in the world of judgment. It's always too big or too little." .... more here |

We would be ten sitting and nine of us would see Babaji and the tenth would not. Or someone would be sitting on the road and Babaji would pass before him and the person wouldn’t see Babaji. Someone would tell Babaji, "So and so is a great devotee and wants to see you." And Babaji would say, "No, I don’t want to see him. He's a big badmash, I don’t want to see him." So I must say that nobody would come to Babaji, nobody would know, nobody would feel interested in him, if Babaji did not want it. Babaji has actually drawn me, drawn you, that is how we are here .... more here |

Then he held out his hand for the LSD. I put one pill on his palm. Each of these pills was about three hundred micrograms of very pure LSD -- a solid dose for an adult. He beckoned for more, so I put a second pill in his hand -- six hundred micrograms. Again he beckoned and I added yet another, making the total dosage 900 micrograms--certainly not a dose for beginners. Then he threw all the pills into his mouth. My reaction was one of shock mixed with fascination of a social scientist eager to see what would happen. He allowed me to stay for an hour -- and nothing happened. Nothing whatsover. He just laughed at me .... more here and here |

Just as he said, he was 'nobody'. He gave no discourses; the briefest, simpleset stories were his teachings. Usually he sat or lay on a wooden bench wrapped in a plaid blanket while a few devotees sat around him....Sometimes he sat in silence, absorbed in another world .... more here |
